Beliefs About Minority Representation in Policing and Support for Diversification
The general public significantly overestimates minority representation in policing. In closing the gap between perceptions of minority representation and reality, trust in police decreased. By exposure to accurate information about minority underrepresentation, it can increase public support for diversification by reducing unfounded optimism about officer diversity.
